Goal Achieved: Participate in a Wushu Demo

by mark on Feb.15, 2009, under Personal Development

I have wanted to demo wushu for a long time, along with being good enough to demo.  On Friday, I got my chance!  I’m still not good enough to demo, but Dennis overlooked that and asked me to help demo for the Chinese Graduate Student Association.  Check out the video below the fold.

I really enjoyed doing the demo.  The crowd was great, and really helped me push on.  My butterfly and cartwheel were dreadful, also my form is painful to watch.  On the upside, I liked my jump front slap kick.  After the demo, we went back to Dennis’ and had a few drinks.  I mixed up some lychee and Midori based drinks.  All in all a good night.

Aww man, that crowd is brutal, at like, 3:35 they give the saddest clap I’ve ever heard!! But you did really well, man. That’s some cool shit you can do! Your maneuvers themselves looked pretty good to my untrained eye – looks like you just need work on your recovery. Still leagues cooler than anything I can do! I’d like someone to play cool techno and film while I try to run up some steps – it’d be an epic feat.

Keep up the good work, and congrats on meeting one of your goals!

Were you invited to demo to prove it’s not just Chinese people who wushu? :P

You look great from what I can tell! I would have clapped harder than those Chinese graduate students.
